Mind Active is an interactive and personalised "Memory Matching" and "Quiz Trivia" game, based on pre-selected personal photos of the user.
A user (or carer of the user) can pre-select photos to upload to the app library, and in a random manner, each time helps to keep the games feeling fresh at all times.
The user’s name and a chosen profile photo are used across various screens, adding user recognition and personalisation, whilst frequent success & congratulatory notifications are incorporated to increase engagement with the user.
Mind Active – Dementia Game has three basic functions:
1. An interchangeable photo library, that has a form for entering information about the photos downloaded;
2. A Memory Match card game with 8 levels of ease/difficulty to choose from, depending on the user's ability;
3. A multiple choice question and answer Trivia Quiz based on the photos that have been uploaded in the user’s library.
Reminiscence Therapy has been shown in several published studies to be a positive pastime, which provides many benefits to people living with dementia, from reducing anxiety to improving mood, extending concentration span and providing additional time for caregivers to prepare meals etc. These studies have also shown that games to exercise the mind can assist in slowing the onset of dementia and that using digital devices also improves user engagement and attention span.
The Mind Active application provides a bright and modern interchangeable platform for users to engage in Reminiscence Therapy, have fun, and to exercise their minds at the same time, bringing positive outcomes for all those who engage with this application.
